Adriana Zuniga-Teran

Author Description

Adriana Zuniga-Teran is an Assistant Professor at the School of Geography, Development, and Environment and at the Udall Center for Studies in Public Policy at the University of Arizona. Dr. Zuniga’s research lies at the intersection of urban sustainability and environmental governance, with a focus on water resources and infrastructure in the Arizona-Sonora border region. Her work interrogates the transformations of water infrastructure toward the adoption of nature-based solutions (or green infrastructure) and how these transformations may replicate and reinforce power structures. She studies public engagement as the basis for more equitable outcomes from environmental governance. Through community-based empirical work, her research advances our understanding of the procedural aspects that may result in environmental injustice. She works across disciplines and finds ways to translate theory into practice to advance sustainability and justice.
