Elle Benson has been working at the Theodore Roosevelt Conservation Partnership since 2022 and is currently the Rio Grande Program manager working on state and federal water policy impacting the Rio Grande. Before serving in this role, Elle was a legislative correspondent for Senator Ben Ray Luján, working on the environment and natural resources portfolio. Previously, Elle conducted her master’s thesis in Gila, New Mexico, working with irrigators to identify various policy priorities related to drought mitigation and response. In graduate school, she held internships in Xochitil Torres Small’s congressional office and at Lawrence Berkeley National Labs, where she did research on global desalination policies.
