The Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) has completed a feasibility review of the proposed Marvin Nichols Reservoir project. This reservoir would be located on the Sulphur River in Northeast Texas. The review examined the project's timeline, costs, land acquisition needs, and potential economic impacts.
A draft report outlining the findings of this review is now available for public comment. This comment period is open until October 25, 2024. Public input will be considered by the TWDB before finalizing the report and submitting it to the Legislative Budget Board and Governor.
This project has been under discussion for many years and is included in regional and state water plans. If approved, the Marvin Nichols Reservoir would provide water supply, flood control, and recreational benefits to the region. Read and comment on the draft report here.
